After a rough start to the season the McNeese Cowgirl basketball squad is finding itself on a 3 game win streak punctuated in Lake Charles Saturday by junior Damiloa Balogun's 4th double-double of the season (12 points - 13 rebounds). The Cowgirls shot down Houston Baptist University 81-71.

Said head coach Kacie Cryer We are finding ways to win, today it was our defense. We held them scoreless for the first four minutes of the third quarter today. Even when we weren’t scoring, we made stops and a then found ways to score.

Callie Maddox sunk a 3 to open the lead for McNeese (5-13, 3-4 SLC) after the tipoff, a lead the 'Girls held until the half, then continued to lead the rest of the way home.

We shot the ball really well today and that was a total team effort, I’m really proud of our girls for staying with things even though the game got a little sloppy in the fourth quarter, added Coach Cryer.

HBU had trouble not fouling McNeese to the tune in the second half that the final 9 points McNeese scored came from the free throw line.
