It's going to be a long and physically challenging but balanced season between non and conference games next spring when the Cowgirls hit the diamond for 29 non and 27 Southland Conference softball games next year.

The 56 game trek is going to be a challenge, head coach James Landreneau told us We are excited with the final schedule for the 2019 season, this schedule will test us both physically and mentally while preparing us for conference play.

McNeese Sports - HC James Landreneau Softball

That's almost the understatement of the week coach and the ladies will have to stay both physically and mentally tough; McNeese will play 10 teams that advanced to the 2018 NCAA Tourney including Arkansas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Baylor, LSU and UL Lafayette, they won't be able to afford any letdowns will they coach? The challenges that we will be faced with during the early part of the season will be vital for this team's maturity. While facing a grueling road schedule, we are pleased to be able to play eleven home games in the month of February. We hope that our fans are as excited as we are and looking forward to them packing Cowgirl Diamond., added Coach Landreneau. And that's a comfort as during the sometimes cold and rainy Lake Charles February weather, the Cowgirls will be comfortable playing those 11 games in the warm embrace of the hometown crowds.

And we can't wait, it all starts February 7-10 with the Cowgirl Classic when the Cowgirls face Samford, Arkansas, Campbell and Lipscomb. The conference schedule begins here in Lake Charles when Incarnate Word hits town on 8 March.
