Charles Manson, the cult leader and master manipulator behind the grisly 1969 Tate-Labianca murder spree in Los Angeles, is just hours away from death under heavy guard in a California hospital at the age of 83.

According to sources quoted by TMZ, Manson's health is quickly fading, and it's "just a matter of time." Manson was rushed to a Bakersfield, California hospital days ago, and is being subjected to various tests.

Back in January, "Charlie" was hospitalized for severe bleeding, and required surgery to repair internal bleeding. However, at the time, he was deemed too weak by doctors, who sent him back to prison.

Manson, who is accompanied by five uniformed officers at all times, reportedly remains on a gurney, covered by blankets, and has an ashen appearance. A source was quoted as saying, "it's not going to get any better for him," and "it's just a matter of time."
