LHSAA Girls Basketball Playoffs

The Barbe Lady Bucs have advanced to the 5A state championship game after defeating East St. John 49-45 in overtime. The Lady Bucs will be competing for the 5A state title against Destrehan. Destrehan defeated Natchitoches Central 77-46. The 5A state title game is set for 8:00 tomorrow night.

In the 4A semi-finals yesterday afternoon, the season came to an end for the Lady Dragons of DeRidder after they fell to AJ Ellender by a score of 63-50. AJ Ellender advances to the 4A state championship game to face off against Salmen at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon.

In the 3A state championship game, the top seeded Lady Knights of South Beauregard will be taking on Albany, who defeated Iota 52-50 in the semi-finals. Tip off for the 3A state title game is set for 2:00 tomorrow afternoon.

LHSAA Men's Basketball Playoffs

The quarterfinals of the LHSAA men's basketball playoffs will take place tonight with a handful of teams in Southwest Louisiana looking to clinch a berth to men's state tournament at Burton Coliseum.

Class 4A

(1) Washington Marion will host (8) Tioga at 6:30 tonight

Class 3A

(9) Jennings will travel to face (1) Peabody at 7:00 tonight

(6) South Beauregard will travel to face (3) Carroll at 7:00 tonight

Class B

(2) Hathaway will host (23) Mt. Hermon at 6:30 tonight

(7) Singer will travel to face (2) Simpson at 6:00 tonight

Division II

(4) St. Louis will host (5) St. Michael the Archangel at 7:00 tonight

Division IV

(3) Hamilton Christian will host (6) Central Catholic at 6:00 tonight

All winners will advance to the men's state basketball tournament at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles.

College Basketball

The McNeese men's and women's basketball teams traveled to Huntsville, Texas for a Southland Conference double header. The McNeese Cowgirls defeated Sam Houston State 61-58 in the first game of the double header. The McNeese Cowboys were unable to get the victory last night as they fell to Sam Houston State 79-74.

The men's and women's team will wrap up the regular season tomorrow with a double header at Burton Coliseum against Lamar. The women will play the first game with tip-off set for 1:00 and the men will follow with tip-off scheduled for 3:00.

College Baseball

The McNeese Cowboys are set for a weekend series in Lake Charles against Prairie View A&M. The first pitch for game one will be tonight at 6:00. First pitch for game two tomorrow will be at 3:00. First pitch for Sunday will be at 1:00.

College Softball

The McNeese Cowgirls went 2-0 in the San Diego Classic yesterday with a 6-3 win over BYU and a 7-6 win over San Diego State. They will be back at it again today with another doubleheader. First game of their doubleheader will be against San Jose State. First pitch for that game is at 11AM. The second game of their doubleheader will be against UC Davis with first pitch scheduled for 1:30.
