UPDATE: 11 AM CDT Sunday 23 Sept 18 - Due to severe weather and unplayable field conditions the McNeese soccer game vs. Cent. Arkansas has been postponed until October 7. The Cowgirls will be in action again Friday, October 5th at home against Nichols.

After a battle on a rainy squally Friday evening, the 2018 McNeese Cowgirl soccer squad is still perfect at home after dropkicking Northwestern State out of Lake Charles with a 4-0 blankout.

Friday evenings victory brought the Cowgirls to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in league play. Coach Drew Fitzgerald remarked before Fridays match We always want to defend home, the girls really seem to rise up to the occasion at home no matter who the opponent is. We had a few losses on the road before finding the win column again against Jackson state and it’s good to see us continue to build off of that success.

Cowgirls Dominate Friday Evening

The Cowgirls were in control of the game from the opening kick and scored 17 minutes in with Morgan Middleton's slam to the back of the net. The set up to Middleton was completed by passes from Dayna Garcia and Anna Watson. Moments later Rachel Palet served one from the corner to Kelly Morrow who knew how to get to the back of the net, for the second of the 2 first-half scores.

In the second half, the Cowgirls continued to dominate as Watson skillfully maneuvered dribbling through two Lady Demon defenders to beat the goalie and crash another goal home. The final score of the evening came when freshman Carissa Adams scored her welcome-to-college-soccer first ever goal to seal off the victory.

Undefeated Home Record On The Line Sunday Afternoon

After winning the last two in knockout fashion the Cowgirls host Central Arkansas Sunday (9.23) at 1 pm.

Coach Drew Fitzgerald told Classic Rock 92.1 UCA has been scoring goals in bunches the last couple weeks and they haven’t been giving much up. They seem to have regained the form the league saw them in two seasons ago. They have multiple goal scorers and Camille Bassette is a constant threat.

UCA (6-3, 1-1, SLC) lost to Lamar Friday night 3-1 for its first league play loss and would like to take out some frustration on the Cowgirls (7-4, 1-1, SLC) so this is going to be a more physical game and the Cowgirls will need to be the more physical team added Fitzgerald.
