CPSO Detectives Quick Work Unmasks C-Store Shotgun Trigger Man
This morning (16 Jan) about 6 am a young man entered a convenience store in the 6700 block of Nelson road and stuck a shotgun in the clerks face demanding all the cash. The video shows the clerk quickly complying as any normal human would.
Just as quickly this afternoon Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs Department Deputies lead by Randall Ravia learned the identity of the suspect that entered the store was Wyatt J. Guillory, 18 of Lake Charles. Detectives soon determined another person, a 17-year-old assisted in the planning of the robbery and also provided the shotgun.
The events of the day seemed to unfold as quickly and smoothly from crime to capture as smoothly as a weekly television crime drama. But this was a great result of real-life hard work and the gritty street knowledge of the deputies of the CPSO.
Both suspects were arrested at their residences and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with armed robbery and armed robbery with a firearm. Bond was set at $425,000 each by Jude Michael Canaday.
A portion of the cash that was stolen along with the shotgun believed to be used during the robbery is now in the possession of the CPSO.
