As of 1 PM Lake Charles time there was an area of thunderstorms with an elongated low that could steer trouble in our direction, but don't raid the stores water and toilet paper supplies just quite yet.

The are of low pressure is about 700 miles from the Cabo-Verde Islands yet, however the National Hurricane Center has updated the chances of formation into a cyclonic system at 30% over the next two days to as high as 60% by the end of the week.

Currently the systemic low is in motion westward around 15 mph. In the graphic above TS Gert is moving away from the US mainland and poses no threat to land, but has generated shipping lane warnings.
