Back on March 13 the management of Gregg Allman announced he would not be touring in 2017, after having scheduled a full slate of mostly summer appearances for this year. This was ambitious due to having to cancel shows at the end of 2016 after November. At the time of the cancellations, ill health was given as a reason but not any particular malady.

Now comes the sad revelation that the 69 year old Allman has of today, entered hospice apparently for end-of-life care near Syracuse NY.

In the past two years Allman has partnered with Syracuse University to endow scholarships to be awarded annually to one music student.

Today's news comes months after the January 24th suicide of Allman Brothers Band drummer Bruce Trucks at age 69.

At Classic Rock 92.1 we play and enjoy Allman Brothers selections, we wish Gregg and his family well during this trying period.
