Louisiana No. 2 in STDs
As you make your weekend plans – especially you singles – please keep in mind Louisiana has claimed the number two ranking nationally on a rather dreadful list published by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.
In three measured sexually transmitted diseases, Louisiana ranks number two in cases of syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. The CDC released the report in late September. As a matter of good health, one cool idea for this weekend’s entertainment is to stay home and study the full report here.
Sadly, many babies are born with syphilis, a condition that can be treated prenatally with straightforward antibiotics, but the parents-to-be must have a simple STD test.
With a little thought and pre-planning, virtually all of these hideous conditions can be prevented.
But everyone looks better at closing time in the neon glow of unplanned short-term love, especially when you’ve been lubricating your gears for hours with liquid intoxicants. Remember, if you ever have to ask over breakfast: “What was your name again?”, you might consider having an STD test.
