Ryan Reynolds and Conan O’Brien Get Wet, Make Out While Reenacting ‘The Notebook’ Scene
Love was in the rain-soaked air on Conan Wednesday, November 2, when actor Ryan Reynolds stopped by to play a guessing game centered on having the audience figure out which of a number of fictional projects he was there to actually promote. (The answer: None of the above, duh.)
One of the projects, however, was a spoof sequel to the much-beloved (or loathed, depending on your affinity for sappy romance) film The Notebook, complete with a teaser trailer starring himself and Conan O'Brien as the iconic onscreen lovers.
In the clip, Reynolds and O'Brien reenacted the movie's famous kissing scene (complete with torrential downpour), the actor and the TV host, wearing drag of course, dramatically embracing and smashing their faces together for a ridiculous make out session after reciting lines from the film.
Afterwards, Reynolds joked that their passionate onscreen fling might incite some drama for him went we went home to his wife Blake Lively later. Fortunately, the actor had a few romantic tricks up his sleeve and came home to the actress bearing gifts.
On Instagram, Lively gushed over her husband's gesture alongside a photo of a glass of milk and a big chocolate treat, writing, "The ways I know that @vancityreynolds got himself into huge trouble on @teamcoco tonight: Not only did he come home with my true love, @levain_bakery cookies, but he personally toasted them for me and brought me a cup of milk WITH ICE. Literal brownie points."
She also captioned the photo with #IfYoureABirdImABird, a subtle nod to one of the more famous quotes from the film.
Released in 2004 and based on Nicholas Sparks' 1996 book of the same name, The Notebook, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, was the romantic drama that sparked a million unreasonable relationship expectations 'round the world and remains, over ten years later, an iconic date night movie.
