The Music’s Over – Cassidy RIP
After being hospitalized in Florida for the past several days and with his organs failing, David Cassidy the TV and pop music idol of the 1970s has passed away at 67.
Back in March, he announced the onset of dementia and also noted that his arthritis made playing the guitar a struggle. The one-time teen idol starred alongside Shirley Jones, Susan Dey, and Danny Bonaduce on The Partridge Family on ABC.
The show spawned several radio favorite songs, such as: I Think I Love You, Cherish, and the TV show's theme song, Come On Get Happy.
At a London concert in 1974, some 800 people were injured at a Cassidy concert, leading to the death of a teenage girl days later. Cassidy had a hit with I Write the Songs before Barry Manilow adopted it.
The son of the Tony-winning Jack Cassidy, David Cassidy is survived by half-brothers Shaun, Patrick, and Ryan Cassidy, a daughter, Katie, and son, Beau Cassidy.
