First and foremost, we must remember the whole reason we even celebrate Memorial Day! It is a time to observe all of the men and women who put their lives on the line (literally) and died for our freedom in this great country we call America! However, since we are off from work and such, we often get together and celebrate our freedom. Here's our top five things to do on Memorial  Day.

1. BBQ With Friends & Family

The weather forecast looks great for this weekend! After you take the time to recognize those who have fallen in war for our country, a good bar-be-que is the most popular way people in south Louisiana celebrate their Memorial Day.

2. Hotdogs At The Beach

This year more than ever people are excited to be at our beach right here in Lake Charles along I-10! There will be many people swimming, laying out, and of course cooking hot dogs as the enjoy the day off from work to wind down the long weekend! To to mention some will be playing volleyball as well.

3. Hang Out At The Boardwalk

This year we have the newly revamped boardwalk in downtown Lake Charles along the seawall. The entire area has benches, a play area for the kids, and of course the huge fountain that the kids love to get wet and play around!

4. Casino - L'Auberge Du Lac

Many people around Southwest Louisiana love to gamble! I mean we have a casino in all directions, we kind of have no choice! Right? I know I have spent many days off at L'Auberge playing the slots, then eating at the Cafe, and following that up with laying out by the nice pool area and lazy river the have on site!

5. Out On The Lake Fishing

In Lake Charles we are very lucky to have a lot of water around. We have the lakes and the river to keep us busy when we want to do a little fishing! What a great day to get on the boat and go in the middle of the river and peacefully fish with family or friends.

No matter how you spend your Memorial Day, don't forget the entire reason for this great day! Remember all of those you have fallen for your freedoms here in America! Most of all no drinking and driving! Be safe this Memorial Day!
