What’s The Healthiest Easter Candy?

Chocolate Easter Bunny in a Basket

When it comes to Easter candy “healthy” isn’t exactly the first word that comes to mind. But before you beat yourself up over the fact that you ate the entire head off of your kids chocolate bunny take a look at the top 5 healthiest Easter candies, they might surprise you.

According to NBC News, chocolate candies are the healthiest choice when it comes to Easter candy. So, I could have been eating chocolate this whole time? Instead I have been eating copious amounts of jelly beans, because they’re beans and beans are healthy, right? Wrong. Jelly beans don’t even make the top five on this list, it’s all chocolate, my friends.

So, get ready for a last minute candy shopping spree, because these chocolatey treats are gonna have you filling your kids Easter basket with enough candy that they won’t even notice when you steal a few.

  1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs
  2. Tootsie Egg Shaped Pops
  3. Russell Stover Coconut Cream Egg
  4. Cadbury Cream Egg
  5. Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Easter Kisses

Of course, these are all in moderation, so don’t eat 15 Cadbury Cream Eggs and think you can skip the gym because it’s a “healthier choice”, but don’t be afraid to indulge a little. After all, Easter is the only time of year you can eat egg shaped candy, and we all know candy in fun shapes tastes way better than the exact same candy in it’s normal form.

And for all my fellow Peeps haters out there, those nasty sugar coated, marshmallow chicks and bunnies came in at #6 on the list. I know, I’m just as surprised as you are that Peeps aren’t chilling in the last place spot.

So, what candy did NBC News declare as the worst of all Easter candies? The candy I’ve been shoveling in my mouth every Easter, that’s what —  Brach’s Tiny Jelly Bird Eggs. I’ve been doing Easter wrong this whole time! I don’t even like jelly beans! I just thought they were the healthiest choice, so I downed handfuls of them until I had enough of a sugar high that I forgot al about the delicious chocolate that was still hiding around the house.

Someone get me a Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg, pronto!

You can check out the full list of healthy Easter candy choices, including calories and how many you should actually eat, by taking a peek at the post on the NBC News website.
