Cowgirl Defense Chokes Nicholls 69-68 in McNeese Win
In sports, often the difference between victory and defeat are measured in fractions of seconds, inches, effort.
The McNeese Cowgirls solid defensive effort and ability to win the 50/50 balls allowed them to pick up a conference win over Nicholls in Thibodaux Wednesday night.
Head Coach Kacie Cryer had stars in her eyes and was all praise after the final buzzer. I’m so proud of our girls, said coach Cryer. There isn’t a more deserving group of girls to get a win than these. They have fought, stayed the course, believed, and stayed together through so much adversity, and learning to get a huge win over a very tough Nicholls team.
Junior Regan Bolton was again hot from 3-point territory with a career-high seven three-pointers, finishing with 25 points on the night. Damilola Balogun a Jr and Freshman Maddisen Martin also hit double digits scoring 12 each, Balogun also completed her second double-double of the season with a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Cowgirls come home Saturday to host Southeastern Louisiana for the first of six straight home games.
