Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over in CPSO Drunk Driving Crackdown
According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Association in the United States on the average of every forty-eight minutes someone dies in an alcohol-impaired driving incident. Every forty-eight minutes all day and all night long seven days a week. That's around thirty people a day, two-hundred and ten a week.
Starting today (16 Aug) and through September 2 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs Office will have increased checkpoints and deputies on the road aimed specifically at reducing the toll of drunk driving.
The name of the campaign is Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and it's actually a national initiative. We all know it's incredibly wrong to attempt to operate a motor vehicle while impaired and we're glad that as kids start wandering the streets again from school, bus-stops and other activities that this campaign to curb impaired driving is underway.
According to Sheriff Mancuso By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Calcasieu Parish roadways safer for everyone.
Remember to report a suspected impaired driver hit *LSP on your phone or 911.
