Whether you're driving to work in the morning or driving back home in the afternoon, sometimes the traffic can be quite congested, if you don't time it correctly. It's usually between 7:30 and 8 a.m. in the morning, and anywhere between 5:30 and 6 p.m in the afternoons where you'll see the most congested traffic. Sometimes, even the lunch hour can be a hassle.

In the city of Lake Charles, it's no different. Every morning and afternoon, the traffic gets congested and backed up. This is not necessarily a problem unless you're always in a hurry like I am. Driving through Lake Charles the past few years, I have learned where the busiest intersections are, and I try to avoid them at all costs...at least in the prime morning and afternoon drives.

Now when I say busiest intersections, I mean the ones that will get congested very easily. There may be other intersections in town that may see more overall traffic throughout the day, but these are the intersections you may want to avoid during the prime driving hours in the morning, lunch time, and afternoon.

The five busiest (or most easily congested) intersections in Lake Charles are, in my opinion:

1. Lake Street & Prien Lake Road

2. Ryan Street & Prien Lake Road

3. Lake Street & Sale Road

4. Nelson Road & Prien Lake Road

5. Lake Street & McNeese Street

Now there are some other intersections that come to mind that get congested at times, such as Sale Road & Ryan Street, College Road & Ryan Street, and Common Street & Sale Road, but those are not as bad as the five previously mentioned. Those five are the ones you should more than likely avoid if you're ever in a hurry.

Luckily, we have a thing called the I-210 loop that will help go around most of these busy intersections. If the 210 loop ever gets congested in the prime morning or afternoon drives, then we are just destined to be late.
