As of 1 PM CDT The National Weather Service has tracked sustained winds of 85 MPH and declared Hurricane status for Harvey. The location is still some 335 miles SE of Corpus Christie Texas moving NW at 10 MPH.
As of 1 PM CDT the Storm Surge Watch has been extended NW up the Texas coast to High Island (between Winnie and Crystal Beach, Texas) all other advisories and warnings remain in effect.
Harvey is rapidly intensifying...preparations along the middle Texas coast should be rushed to completion today... Harvey is expected to make a turn to the northwest later today while his speed is expected to slow down some. At the present rate Harvey will make landfall along the Texas coast Friday night or early Saturday morning.
