According to a league statement: "The LFL recognizes everyone's First Amendment right to protest, but our nation's flag and anthem are far too sacred, too many fellow Americans have made the ultimate sacrifice, so that our flag and anthem continue in all its majesty."

The eight-team league wrapped up its 2017 season on September 3rd with the Atlanta Steam losing the Legends Cup Championship Game to the Seattle Mist 38-28. The league is essentially an indoor football league that plays its games on a 50 yard field with four 10 minute quarters. The active roster is 14 players, with seven players each on offense and defense.
