We've all seen the TV programs that include coroners doing their daily duty, and that duty includes determining the exact ID of a deceased person, as well as how, when, and where they came upon their deaths.

And when those deaths come suddenly with unknown cause unnaturally, violent or otherwise, it falls on the shoulders of the coroner to assess whether or not an inquest by police officials should be instituted.

Being a coroner is a truly awesome responsibility. In a mysterious death, they are the sole person that can determine whether the police should be pursuing someone or not.

Megan Clement Passes National Boards

Congratulations to Megan Clement, who just completed and passed the national registry examination by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI).

The Board was established to promote the highest standards of practice for medicolegal death investigators.

To pass the board, Ms. Clement had to successfully demonstrate a range of skills in some 500 tasks that form the Board standard.
