They're most likely only packing uniforms, cleats, gloves, and bats for their Lake Charles visit this weekend, but the SFA Lumberjacks will definitely try to stop the McNeese offense with every baseball skill they possess short of an ax.

SFA comes into Joe Miller for a three-game weekend conference set with game one slated for Friday at 6:00pm.

And they may literally need axes to chop the bats of junior Jake Dickerson and freshman Payton Harden who lead the Cowboys jet-fueled offense with averages of .329 and .297, respectively. Dickerson is also standing on a ten-game hitting streak.

Junior Nate Fisbeck from The Woodlands is also on a hot streak, leading the team with .329 plus nine doubles, a triple, three homers, and 27 RBIs.

All told, the Cowboys have five starting players all hitting over .280: Fisbeck, Dickerson, Carson Maxwell, Clayton Rasbeary, and Payton Harden.

While they're honing their blades, the 'jacks no doubt are thinking about the idea that they haven't won in Lake Charles since 2013, and the Cowboys have outright won each series since 2016.

If you're in Joe Miller this weekend, you'll likely see McNeese put the ball into play often.

Going into Friday's game, McNeese is 23-22, 9-12 SLC while SFA comes to town on a 21-24, 13-8 SLC record.

Senior RH, Rhett Deaton, gets the ball Friday with a 5-3 record and ERA of 4.18. It's Deaton's twelfth start of the spring. He went the distance on his last outing, giving up only four. Three were earned on six hits, and he logged his fifth win of the year.

Check back to this post as it will be updated with weather changes to game times. Presently, the forecast for Saturday includes a 70% coverage of rain.

Otherwise, start times are posted as Friday and Saturday at 6:00pm and Sunday at 1:00pm. Bring the family out for a fun spring day at the baseball park.
