McNeese Ragin’ Rivalry Resumes Today in Lafayette
Ever know a couple that's been married for thirty or more years that seem to squabble like bitter enemies, but you know they're great friends and companions?
We present tonight a couple that's had some 175 prior squabbles in all kinds of baseball weather. At 6:30pm, the McNeese Cowboys and UL-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns will go at it again in Tique Moore Field under crystal clear spring skies.
UL leads all-time 99-75.
The Last Meeting Produced 26 Runs
Both team records are in about the same ballpark (yeah, pun intended) with McNeese at 16-16 and 4-8 in the SLC. The Cajuns enter the game at 17-17 and 6-6 in the SBC.
Expect a lot of firepower. Senior Shane Selman, of hometown Barbe, leads the Cowboys with a .323 average and hit his second and third homers last weekend. Add in 22 RBIs, ten doubles, two triples, and one can already sense the hair on the back of the Cajuns' pitcher's neck standing up when Selman enters the box.
Next, Junior Jake Dickerson starts tonight at .314, a homer, 6 RBIs and six double-baggers.
Cajuns Fans Are Amped, Too
The whole region is a mix of fans of both schools, and local Ragin' Cajun fans school comes into the game-winning four out of their last five and are on a two-game win streak, including the recent 2-1 series win over Arkansas State at home.
Cowboys Back Home This Weekend
New Orleans visits Lake Charles for a conference series starting Friday, then Southeastern is here for a non-con game Tuesday.
