It's a nice coincidence that the Sulphur Parks and Recreation Department's waterpark is also known as the SPAR waterpark. Sailors know a spar as referencing the tall mast or lateral beam of the ship. The word spar just conjures up images of cool water and gentle breezes.

And without the risk of sea-sickness that's just the kind of relaxing day in store for you at the SPAR waterpark, which has recently added even more features to fill out the day. The amenities provide a cool way for everyone in the family to chill out as the oppressive summer heat starts to settle in.

Google Maps SPAR Waterpark_Sulphur Parks and Recreation

Just minutes from anywhere in SW Louisiana and SE Texas the park lists a large child-friendly splash and play island, a splash pad and a lazy river that wraps around the site. Plus a nice lagoon pool, an inner-tube only Raging River, Parrot Island, a body slide and four tube slides.

SPAR Waterpark Sensory Swim

One fantastic feature of the waterpark is the Sensory Swim for families and groups with special needs on certain Wednesdays from 8 am until 9:45 am. Lifeguards are on duty but will not blow whistles unless there is an extreme emergency and all of the parks features are available. The next scheduled sensory swim is slated for July 10th but contact the park for detailed information 337-525-2505.

There is a small admission fee, which you'll still find way cheaper than some of the better advertised waterparks in Galveston and elsewhere, admission fees here, you can also get a 20-visit punch card which should just about take care of the summer.

Days of operation and hours are here, so ditch the home made visqueen slip and slides and lawn sprinklers and plan a day at SPAR waterpark right in our backyard.
